94 Responses to “Day 11 – Another Giveaway! (Winner Announced)”

  1. I’m an 11!!! (I’m so kidding!! Probably a 10, though some days I feel like a 2!! LOL). If I win this, I will be gifting it to one of my students. 🙂

  2. I think I am about a 9. I love soldering and still have lots to learn. 🙂 Just like Barrie, if I win it, I will be gifting it to a student as well. 🙂 What a great giveaway.

  3. 6ish and rusty! Need to get back to it!!

  4. I’m a -1… total soldering noob. 🙂

  5. I am maybe a 3.. I have tried to solder and want to solder.. and a complete set up would be great! I got a spinner ring kit from Melissa and would love to have everything I needed to make them!

  6. I think I’m somewhere around a 7…so much to learn. Just like the previous two before me, Barrie and Melissa, I’ll gift it to a student if I win. 🙂

  7. I think I’m between a 3 and a 5. With a set up like that I could get to a 10 much more quickly!

  8. I am a 1.5 – have taken a basic class, but haven’t practiced since I got home. This would definitely get me going again!

  9. 1 – but would love to be a 10!

  10. I’m maybe a 2? I’ve made some soldered and hammered silver jump rings…. Would love to learn to bezel set!

  11. Been quite some time, so probably a 5. I know there are lots of new ideas and techniques to learn.

  12. I’m a 1. Never soldered at all, but I look at all the pretties I could make if I DID solder, and I dream. 🙂

  13. I would be about a 4. Need to keep practicing, I love to solder and would love to get better at it! 🙂

  14. I am a 1 in soldering experience, but it’s on my list of things to learn for the new year!

  15. I’m such a n00b, so I’m at 1 on this whole soldering thing. I’ve been taking notes to be sure from some great instructors, and at some near future point want to take some classes.

  16. Probably about a 4 – some experience but still make lots of mistakes. Would love a set up as my instructor is no longer teaching as she is moving on with her business and now I have no studio/workshop to work in 🙁

  17. I’m about a 7 I’d say, although like Barrie I have my days of being a 2. And I’m totally keeping the set up if I win lol.

  18. I would have to say advanced beginner. I took a couple of classes a few years back but it has been a long time since I’ve held a torch. Would love to get back into it! 🙂

  19. I would say I am at about a 3-4 but getting better with practice!

  20. About a 3 to 4 I can do it, I’m just not convinced I do it well!

  21. I’m about a 2.5 I took classes but it have been years ago and what skills I gained are really rusty. But oh, getting this would be so sweet!

  22. Oh gosh – I’m definitely a 1 – just bought my torch and have played with enamel but soldering is definitely on my bucket list!

  23. If I won this I would finally have the jump start to soldering I’ve been saving for. I need this! Thanks for the opportunity 🙂

  24. I would say probably a 6 or 7, but definitely want to improve. I love watching the solder flow!

  25. I’m definitely a 1 who needs to learn to solder to take my jewelry to the next level.

  26. I’m about a 1 because I have a micro torch and it doesn’t get hot enough to melt anything 🙁

    • oh Linda – sorry to hear that. I’ve never used any of the tabletop torches. Maybe a micro butane just isn’t ‘big’ enough…..maybe we need to upgrade the torch in the giveaway to some variety of a ‘max’ butane torch rather than a micro… you know what brand you have?

  27. Well, I’m a One. Working with ‘fire’ is one of my new year’s resolutions. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.

  28. I’m absolutely rated as a 1 … I’ve only just learning to solder, and have been watching YouTube videos and trying to decide which online class/video to purchase. I have no tools or supplies as yet. If there was a rating of zero … that would be me!

  29. I think I’m probably between a 6-7. Definitely getting better and an not melting peices anymore (knock on wood)!

  30. I am maybe a 4, on a good day. 🙂

  31. I am about a 5 with my soldering skills. As a mom of eight this has been a new and exciting outlet.

  32. I am about 3-4′ I’d say. Just finished a beginner class and want to set things up so I can work at home 🙂

  33. I am a 3, only because I’ve used a torch to enemel a couple of times.

  34. I’d say I’m a 5 — I’m competent at simple soldering, but no where near being an expert.

  35. I am a four as I am just getting into soldering. I want to do more but I am so busy crocheting and making strung bracelets and earrings I don’t get much time get better.

  36. I am a 1! I would love to learn and use it in my jewelry.

  37. I’d say I’m 8 to 9 on a scale from 1 to 10. This would be a great set-up to use while teaching classes on location. Thanks for the chance to win!

  38. I must say I am a 1 and 1/2 I tried it once!! Need so much more to learn!!

  39. I am a 1.5-2. Soldered in a bracelet class, have two books on soldering, but need to take the plunge to try it at home.

  40. Definitely a “1”. Never soldered, but I am dying to learn how. So many cool things that can be done!

  41. Probably about a 4. Love soldering, but haven’t had time lately to practice. Would love to get back into it!

  42. I would have to say that I am about a 7…I have a lot of trouble with a micro torch…so I usually opt for using the regular torch. But I would really like to be able to work with a micro torch because it should be much more convenient in many situations! There is always something to learn…I love that!

  43. Soldering? Fire? I can make beautiful stuff with fire?

God you guys are good!!! This is such an awesome gift.

    Thanks so much.

  44. I would rate my skill at a 2 or 3, have done some minor soldering, (i.e., jump rings to back of piece for bail, fine silver jump rings), would love to win this gift!
    thanks so much

  45. I am a 1. soldering is on my top 5 list of new things to learn for my little jewelry business

  46. I learned to solder a long time ago but haven’t done it in years, so I’m guessing my skill level is about a 2! Thanks for this giveaway!

  47. It depends on what I’m soldering, but I’d say on average I’m about a 7. I’ll get a lot better if I can solder more in my apartment, currently I go into a jewelry studio once a week. Thanks for such an awesome contest!

  48. 1! I have been interested in learning so I can make components for my lampwork beads. Winning this kit would be awesome! Thanks for giving us all this chance!

  49. I am about a point 5. I have used a torch for making balled headpins. Thanks for the offer! Merry Christmas.

  50. I have taken a couple of classes that used soldering. I have moderate skills, just enough to be dangerous.

  51. My level would be around 3. Should improve with my impending move and a proper workbench instead of my kitchen island. Can’t wait!

  52. I’m a 1, never soldered but have the space set up and ready to go!

  53. I guess I’m a 2. I soldered in a class once, but have never gotten up the nerve to try it at home by myself. Would love the kit. Maybe it would get me started.

  54. I’m a 1.5. I’ve taken one soldering class, so I know a few basics, but I’m still a bit intimidated by fire. I’m planning to take an intro to metalworking class that will include soldering, so this giveaway would enable me to practice at home.

  55. I am a solid 5. I would love to love to learn more and one of my goals for 2013 is to do more metal work.

  56. I consider myself between a 4 and 5 – have just progressed on to getting a small torch for home use, similar to a Little Smith – still use my various butane torches here at home and larger torches at the local art centers. I have lots to learn and need to keep practicing. If I win this lot, I would give it to a newbie in my jewelry group, since I already have these!

  57. Since I’ve never sodered before I would be a 1 but very eager to learn.

    Thanks for the give away!

  58. I’m a 1! I would love to learn!

  59. I would put myself at either a 3 or a 4. I mostly do basic soldering and feel quite confident with that but haven’t done very many multilayered pieces. Still a lot to learn. I have most of what I need to solder but would gift the set to one of a few friends that are on the edge of moving in that direction.

  60. I’m a 1; I’ve tried fusing with a micro torch, but never tried soldering. A skill I want to add to my repertoir!

  61. I was going to say a zero but then I remember that one time in high school when I made a piece of stained glass…does that count? This is so awesome. I just read a little article about how to purposely contaminate your pickle so you can change the color of your solder to match your copper piece and I gotta tell you, I really want to do that.

  62. I suppose I would rank myself at a 6 in soldering (and by the way, Linda is lying, she’s what, a 6? or do I rank too low?). If I win this package, I would have a competition to pass it along to one of my beginner students that would like to create a home soldering space. It’s a lovely gift!

  63. Hi, I guess I around a 4. I would love to learn more soldering techniques and teach. A soldering kit like this would help to set up a work station so I could share. I know at least 3 women who want to learn right away!

  64. I am about a 3. I have done it quite a few classes and absolutely love to do it. I would like love the set up because I know I would use it. In jewellery making I like to do many things but there is just something so fun about watching the solder flow and become one.

  65. I think I would be a level 2. I took a basic soldering class, but have not felt comfortable enough to try it on my own. I am in the middle of an online soldering class, but have only had time to watch the videos.

  66. I’m maybe a 2. I took a silversmithing class and soldered there but that was about 15 years ago!

  67. I already have a Li’l Torch. I pretty much know how to solder with a variety of methods (pick, stick and sheet), as well as fusing. I suppose I could say I’m a 9. But I can sure pass the solder kit on!

  68. I would say I am around a 4. I have taken classes with Barrie and soldered some pieces but my failure rate is still frequent enough not to rate myself higher. Like Robin said , just enough to be dangerous :>) Thanks for the chance! Cheers

  69. I have tried it a few times in class but not at home, I am probably a 3.

  70. I really do need to upgrade my skills in soldering. Thank you so much!

  71. I have only soldered in a class and would like to add this to my designing jewelry for rescuers of animals.

  72. I hit the wrong button, so I am at a level of 2, 3 hr soldering class.

  73. I’m a number 1. Soldering is next on my list to learn and this kit would surely get me started.

  74. Probably about a 4. Love soldering, but haven’t had time lately to practice. Would love to get back into it.

  75. My level would be 3 I have soldered but its pretty hit or miss!

  76. I’m a 2 to 4 I think! lol

  77. I have soldered a few times and loved it. I just need the set up at home. I would say that my skill level is around a 3.

  78. My soldering experience is a big fat ZERO, so I guess I would be at a 1. I would love to learn though! I would love a butane torch set up to start me out. I have access to a MAPP/OXY setup but I am terrified of it. Huge tanks.

  79. I’m about a 4. I’d like to get better, but I haven’t been able to take metal-smithing classes in a year, and I don’t have a torch at home. I LOVE soldering and working with metal. Probably my favorite jewelry thing.

  80. I would consider myself a 3 or a 4. Have done some soldering, but still feel I have a lot to learn.

  81. I would consider myself a 6, but do not have a lot of experience using a butane torch.
Nothing better than winning one to experiment with. Thanks for the give away. Bea

  82. Consider myself, umm, maybe an 8.5.

  83. Me would be 1.. Planning to learn it soon. And i know this set would be very helpful 😀
    Thanks for the opportunity!!! <3

  84. I’m a 1. I would love to learn how to solder and this giveaway just might get me started.

  85. I’m not a pro, but I have soldered before. I’d put myself at a 3, because I need the practice.

  86. My soldering level would be a 1. I can solder for stained glass but I don’t have the equipment to solder jewelry. I would love to learn to do it though.

  87. Hmmm…I think I am a 4 to 6, it depends on the day 🙂

  88. I would be a 1, although I have done some welding/soldering many years ago. Feel like an absolute beginner! I would love to win this kit! Thanks for the opportunity!

  89. I think I’d be about a 2.5. I’ve soldered a couple of things. But in my heart I’m a 10!!LOL. I would love to learn more.

  90. I’d be about a 5 to start but have done some soldering and it would probably kick up a couple notches pretty quickly. What a great giveaway! Thanks

  91. Some days I’m a good solid 10 and others you would think that I’d never seen a torch in my life, nothing but puddles! But alas that’s the way it is when you play with fire. I have all that is necessary so I just don’t need the kit give it someone who needs it.

  92. I’ve taken classes but can always use more time on the torch. On an average I’m probably
a 5. But if I don’t torch for awhile I’m closer to a 1. Thanks for all the good advice 🙂

  93. Congratulations, Mary Harrington!
