The 2013 retreat has come and gone! For information on future retreats please go here

Jewelry Artists Network Retreat 2013 registration is now open for 2012 attendees and will open in mid February for new attendees, space permitting. And remember, anyone of any skill level is welcome to attend!

DATES: OCT 6 – 13, 2013

LITTLETON, NC

Some information to get you thinking:

  • The fee is 275.00 for the week with food being extra. We make a couple of grocery runs during the week. People generally eat breakfast and lunch as they wander in, but dinners are together which is great fun! We take turns cooking and cleaning up.
  • The house is large, 5 bedrooms, however two bedrooms hold 5 beds each between bunks, singles, and trundles. We try our best not to overbook so we don’t have to use the trundles. There are also a couple of sleeper sofas throughout the house. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own linens as those provided must be washed, dried, AND put away prior to departure.
  • We work primarily in the garage, and it can be chilly in October, so watch the weather and pack accordingly.
  • Everyone brings their own hand tools and materials. But everyone is good about sharing! Large equipment will be brought by various attendees and shared – rolling mill, bench shear, belt sander, bench polisher….equipment varies year to year, we try to determine what we want to do and bring what we need.
  • Initially the retreat was fairly structured, however, the past couple of yeas have been much more loose. If there is something you want to learn, you need to speak up and ask – everyone is VERY good about sharing what they know. We have a private list group we use for several months leading up to retreat, just for attendees, where we toss out ideas and get an idea for things people are interested in learning. This way we make sure we have the necessary materials and tools on hand.

You can see photos from past years here, here, and here.

  1. I can only attend until the 11th, as I have a wedding to go to on Sat., Oct. 12. Would I get a discount on the registration fee?
    Thanks!
    Ellie

  2. I would like more information about the retreat.

  3. Do you take beginners?

    • Yes, Nancy, people of all levels are welcome. Keep in mind that it is an ‘immersion’ kind of experience though. Loads of helpful folks willing to share, but no set classes or instruction. If there is something someone wants to learn, others are always happy to demo and offer advice throughout the week. Does that make sense?
